Check out these amazing pictures of the construction of the new Randall B. Terry Jr. Companion Animal Medical Center! We can't wait for the construction to be completed - the facility will be second to none. And for those who are wondering, the cows still have their pasture!

It's a sad fact...this year, roughly 66,000 people will be diagnosed with non-Hodgkin
lymphoma, while another 22,000 will be diagnosed with cancers of the
brain. In parallel, our pet dogs also suffer from a range of similar
spontaneous cancers. Come see NC State CVM faculty member Dr. Matthew Breen on Tuesday, November ...17 at the Science Cafe at Raleigh's Irregardless Cafe between 6:30 and 8:30. Dr. Breen's work is internationally known, and helped map the canine genome in 2004. Check out the link to learn more!Read More

NC State College of Veterinary Medicine Many thanks to all of you that participated in this past
weekend's NCVC at the Raleigh Convention Center. It was an extremely
successful conference, and early indications are that we will once again
set record attendance.

Angel Sullens

Angel Sullens Hi there! Our dog Angel was diagnosed with lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. I'm happy to report that Angel is in remission, AND that she is a candidate for the canine bone marrow transplant! We've been working around the clock to raise enough money for the procedure and we can't wait until she's on her way to NC State :) Thank you for giving us hope!

Katherine

Katherine Roxy, my 10-year-old Jack Russell, would like to thank Dr. Marcellin for her new hip. We came down from Virginia Beach, referred by my vet because of the excellent care I was told she would receive at CVM. It was a complicated surgery because she is so tiny (9 lbs), but Dr. Marcellin expertly "installed" her micro hip. She also sends special thanks to Amanda who took care of her all week.

NC State College of Veterinary Medicine VTH patient Kito, an eight-year-old Belgian Malinois and a member of the Raleigh Police Department K-9 Unit, was restored to health and is back on the force following a severe bout of leptospirosis that nearly proved fatal and landed him in the ICU for two weeks. Dr. Ashley Cruse, a member of Kito's care team, is interviewed.

Cindy Taylor My golden retriever, Meggie, has been an oncology patient at the CVM for almost 2 years now. She is walking as a survivor and will be the Grand Marshall at two "Bark for Life" events in Surry County this month. If you're in the area come out, walk your dog, and have fun with us while raising some money for cancer research!

Our faculty members are doing some fascinating research! Did you know that tiny, engineered nanomaterials can already be found in many consumer
products, and have been hailed as having widespread future uses in
areas ranging from medicine to industrial processes? However, little is
known about what happens if these nanom...aterials get into your body –
where do they go? NC State University researchers at the College of
Veterinary Medicine are working to answer that question under a
grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Read about this research at the link!
