Straight from the heart of Silicon Valley, NVS started in March of 1999 as a two-piece project. The band has now come full circle, consisting of a talented and entertaining young group of music lovers and musicians who blend their various influences together to create a sound that pushes the boundaries of typical genre classification and words that strive to help you think, feel, and question rather than simply smile, nod, and disengage.
Their live sound is a lude liaison between punk, alternative, metal, pop, noise, and rock n' roll. Tired of bands who simply run through the motions with the same stale routine while simultaneously disrespecting their audience, NVS tries to do their part to make every show a unique experience that even their harshest critics wouldn't forget.
Rather than completely embrace any one kind of musical or performance genre, they challenge themselves on a regular basis to create something that doesn't strive to be "different" (yet sounding exactly the same), channeling their respective influences and playing their hearts out for anyone and everyone that takes the time to listen. NVS looks forward to doing whatever they can to make your Bay Area music scene a little more candid, conscious, and uncomfortable.
NOTE: NVS does NOT advocate or endorse sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, violence, hegemonic masculinity, conspicuous consumption, the alignment between church and state, and (most) illegal substances.
"The group plays that witty, fast, irreverent and smart music that sticks in your head refuses to leave, like an aural squatter claiming eminent domain."
--Ryan Osterbeck, Metro Silicon Valley
"The musicianship is of a high grade...the lyrics and vocals make me want to shoot myself...there is hope for the future."
--Johnathon Gallienne, Punk United
"...the band has taken everything every other band has done and twisted it into something we've never experienced."
--Michael Aldax, Bay Area Band Militia
"you stole your name from another band in the '80s...You are NOT original in the least."
--Audrey Jane, Myspace user
