Yesterday we adjusted guitar sounds and I was lucky to get the legendary sound engineer Mikko Karmila (COB, Nightwish, Amorphis etc.) to help me. So I'm pretty confident to start tracking the guitars in a few weeks, after some hardware updating and session building, importing & exporting and few other boring tasks :)

Naildown is back – recording of the third album starts today
... Naildown’s four year hiatus (it’s latest album ”Dreamcrusher” came out in 2007) ends today, as the band enters Sound Supreme studios in Hämeenlinna, Finland to start recording their 3rd album.
According to frontman and songwriter Daniel Freyberg, the yet untitled album is coming along in good spirits and without stressful deadlines. In addition to Sound Supreme, the album will be recorded in various other places as well.
This is gonna be long process, but the engine is finally running again”, Freyberg says.
Freyberg – who’s been a member of the melodic death metal band Norther for the past couple of years – has been writing new Naildown material all along, slowly but surely.
”The new material is really varied, from epic 10-minute songs to fast and ferocious tracks. Even though it’s been a while since the last album, the band’s sound is still recogniseable.”
“I'm also thrilled to have Heikki (Saari) onboard for his first Naildown album. His spectacular style and technique is a real asset to the band.”

Naildown päättää vuosien hiljaiselon – kolmannen studioalbumin äänitykset alkavat tänään
Vuonna 2007 julkaistu Naildownin edellisalbumi Dreamcrusher saa viimein jatkoa! Yhtyeen liki neljän vuoden totaalihiljaisuus päättyy tänään yhtyeen suunnatessa Hämeenlinnan Sound Supreme -studiolle seuraavan studioalbuminsa rumpuäänityksiin.
Yhtyeen keulamies ja biisintekijä Daniel Freyberg kertoo, että järjestyksessään Naildownin kolmas (vielä nimeämätön) studioalbumi valmistuu hyvillä fiiliksillä ilman tiukkoja aikatauluja. Albumia äänitetään Sound Supremen lisäksi myös useissa muissa paikoissa, joten luvassa on Danielin mukaan mielenkiintoinen palapeli.
"Tämän albumin äänityksistä tulee vielä pitkä prosessi, mutta nyt kone on saatu jälleen käyntiin”, Freyberg lupaa.
Parin viime vuoden ajan Norther-yhtyeen riveissä nähty Daniel on säveltänyt tulevan Naildown-albumin kappaleita kaikessa hiljaisuudessa.
”Uusi materiaali on vihdoin sellaisessa muodossa kuin haluan. Biisejä löytyy laidasta laitaan, aina kymmenminuuttisesta eepoksesta tiukkoihin ajojahteihin. Vaikka viime levystä on jo tovi, bändi on yhä tunnistettavissa, vauhtia ja vaarallisia tilanteita ei ole unohdettu.”
”Olen myös äärimmäisen innoissani siitä, että rumpali Heikki (Saari) on mukana nyt tekemässä ensimmäistä Naildown-albumiaan. Heikki on ansainnut kannuksensa huikealla tyylillään jo monessa yhtyeessä tätä ennen, ja hän on saanut leukani loksahtamaan jo treeneissä”, Freyberg jatkaa.

Too bad i din't get the planned winter holiday from my dayjob - that way this would've been piece of cake.. :) Daniel has rigged the songs with some sick landmines, so i think i have rough times ahead. :D Heikki

It's been way long since last update and I'm terrible sorry for that!
A lot has happened during this break, I joined Norther and It's been quite a ride, but I haven't forgot Naildown.
... I’ve been doing (and re-doing) new songs little by little and seems that finally we have the right ones for the album. I admit that song writing has been almost painfully slow... But on the other hand, nothing good comes easy :)
Still work to do in detail-level, but at this point we have the courage to book the studio for drums. Heikki will start beating in January 9th at Sound Supreme studios. After that I'll continue in my own "Dvice-lab" with guitars and synths. The rest we decide then, 'cause it might take a while to get there - but at least we're finally gonna start the engine!
And the upcoming Naildown recordings will be started by just the two of us, Heikki and me. There might be some kind of reformation in the future but we’ll deal that later.
