EVERYONE talks about the food booths, or the "church food" as many refer to. Thanks for your comments!

A great video which goes to show you how valuable an Ag Expo is to the heart of State of TN and to the future of Ag in education! TN truly is the volunteer state!

Morgan, yes we'd hope the livestock folks would very much be a part of the 2010 fair if we can pull this off. Glen, agreed, but for now, I'll do what I can to continue to NOT stop this 104 year old tradition. Gloria, we're not giving up completely yet!!!

(12/3/09) - Supporters of the state fairgrounds say the economic impact of the events held there has been totally ignored by the mayor's office.

Tennessee State Fair Fairgrounds (not Fair or Speedway) to remain open THROUGH Dec. 31, 2010 to host various shows (over 250 of them) that use this venue, i.e., Christmas Village, Flea Market Weekend, Goodman's Gun Shows, Roller Derby, Lawn & Garden Show, Tailgate Antique Shows, Autofest, etc. This is at least ample time for something els...e to get working! Congrats to the organizations who spoke loud enough to be heard!

Steve Burton The BIGGEST and BEST Flea Mkt of the year going on this weekend !!! Over 2,300 booths !!! This could very well be the last October Flea Mkt we ever have if our Mayor shuts us down June 30th. Don't miss "The Big One" !!

Tennessee State Fair Update: The fairgrounds will be turned over to Metro Nashville finance department on 6/30/10. As of today there are no plans for the continuance of the Tennessee State Fair and no permanent home for the 271 events that take place on the fairgrounds throughout the year. Casualties: flea market, bead show, glass show, c...hristmas village, tailgate antique show, antique auto show....the list is quite robust!

As a volunteer for the Starving Horse Rescue that is being housed at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, I can not express how grateful we, and the horses, are for the use of the fair grounds. TN is the volunteer state, yet it doesn't seem to have a specific location to facilitate, utilize and promote the massive amount of selfless volunteers, and ... See Morelife-saving causes that are here. The fair grounds has been such a place for the past three weeks and there are 83 horses alive AND healthy because of the fair grounds. Thank you Steve for not only allowing these horses a second chance, but for also taking a personal interest and visiting them on a daily basis with a huge smile on your face. We NEED the fair grounds even more now than ever before. Visit my page at Power of One Charity to follow the Starving Horses in Nashville cause and to be a part of our effort to keep the fairgrounds AND change the law that allows innocent horses to be so horribly neglected with just a slap on the hand. Thank you Tennessee State Fair! Erica Stubner

It was. The fair is over and the fairgrounds are being taken over by metro finance on 6/30/10. As far as I know there is no plan in place for a 2010 fair and no permanent home for the other 271 events held at the fairgrounds site over the year.

Tennessee State Fair What's next for the state fair property? Shutting down on June 30th? What happens to flea market, Christmas Village, Gun Shows, Tailgate Antique Shows? Anyone want to form a joint venture and build an expo center? If Nashville doesn't, outlaying counties will!

Lori Beverley Flint The thing I like best about the Fair is the diversity and variety of the people, exhibits, food, etc. It is like it's only little melting pot. How sad to see such an institution just vanish because some people have no vision.

Tennessee State Fair asks you to attend the Fair Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, October 6th at 4 p.m. in Wilson Hall. The people still have a voice in this city...if they speak up at least!

I would love to see the State Fair remain in place. People have spoken in the past about certain areas of town that need to be demolished... With a little patience they rebounded, like downtown, east nashville and other like places. We just keep going and look for innovation instead of file 13. Innovation/creativity is what our Mayor needs instead of just giving up.
