Steve Burton The BIGGEST and BEST Flea Mkt of the year going on this weekend !!! Over 2,300 booths !!! This could very well be the last October Flea Mkt we ever have if our Mayor shuts us down June 30th. Don't miss "The Big One" !!

Tennessee State Fair Update: The fairgrounds will be turned over to Metro Nashville finance department on 6/30/10. As of today there are no plans for the continuance of the Tennessee State Fair and no permanent home for the 271 events that take place on the fairgrounds throughout the year. Casualties: flea market, bead show, glass show, christmas village, tailgate antique show, antique auto show....the list is quite robust!

Morgan Kendrick what was the decision about the fair on the october 6th meeting?

Just because I love the nostagia of any long-standing tradition. I miss it when stuff goes away for good!

In this segment from NPT's MEMORIES OF NASHVILLE, the State Fair at Nashville's Fair Park (now the Tennessee State Fairgrounds) is revisited by those who remember it best.

Tennessee State Fair What's next for the state fair property? Shutting down on June 30th? What happens to flea market, Christmas Village, Gun Shows, Tailgate Antique Shows? Anyone want to form a joint venture and build an expo center? If Nashville doesn't, outlaying counties will!

J.m. Van Eaton Fair's like this one are a big part of American fiber. It's not always about the money. It's much more than that.

Anna VanEaton they just can't shut down the fair....it's the best. And supports local farmers too!

Lori Beverley Flint The thing I like best about the Fair is the diversity and variety of the people, exhibits, food, etc. It is like it's only little melting pot. How sad to see such an institution just vanish because some people have no vision.

Tennessee State Fair asks you to attend the Fair Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, October 6th at 4 p.m. in Wilson Hall. The people still have a voice in this city...if they speak up at least!

Tennessee State Fair The only public forum in which to voice your opinion on the future of the state's largest agricultural event. Please mark your calendars.
Time:4:00PM Tuesday, October 6th
Location:Wilson Hall @ TN State Fairgrounds

My family and I are from Kentucky and for the last 8 years we have showed sheep at Tennessee State Fair. We love coming to the fair every year and look forward to the next year. Right now we are worried beacause alot of people have been talking about cutting out livestock shows. If that happends we throw away a family ...tradition of over 4 generations of showing sheep. Every year at the fair we usually spend more money than we make, with food, entry fees, sometimes motels, gas money, and other stuff we need to show. Dont get me wrong we enjoy the fair and just because we dont make anything we still enjoy coming because its a hobby and a family tradition. Like most other livestock exhibitors. As long as the fair stays and as long as we are healthy and able no matter how much money will spend we will still come to the fair and enjoy it. Please everyone go out and let Tennessee people know that the fair needs to stay and also to keep the livestock shows. How many kids and even adults theseRead More

Stu Miller Long live the Tennessee State Fair - or the Tennessee Garage Fair - or wherever it will be held again. How do you just dump a 104 year tradition? It's not "fair!"

Like everyone here, I also LOVE the TN State Fair and have been 20+ times in my life.
No doubt, everyone enjoys the competitions ... maybe a COMPROMISE for future fairs would be to drop (or mostly cut back) the midway aspect and leave what goes on at "the top of the hill". Just trying to help.
Thanks to the 2009 board and staff. It was awesome !

Kelly Stovall I love the fair- it is wholesome family fun...and it needs to stay.
