it has to do with perceptions of price vs. value. not "arts" related at all, but sometimes the strategies of other industries are of interest...and some of us do have to deal with the idea that arts products should be discounted at all times.

hey i'm not the only one who can post! that being said, social media is only one part of any organization's marketing mix - it just gets a lot more ink than the classics.

Perhaps this is obvious, but what social media really does is put what were previously one-to-one conversations into a public space. It doesn't necessarily change anything but it creates an opportunity for new audiences to intercept your message. For an organization like mine that knows 40% of our audience finds out about us through word of mouth, it's just one more forum to find new eyes for our message. Thanks for the article!
