National Association for Nanny Care What do you think about this? Paying girls money for college if they don't get pregnant. Do you believe in paying kids for accomplishments like grades, etc..? Is this genius or is it just wrong?

The economy has changed things for nannies. Many nannies are finding it hard to find jobs, and especially higher paying jobs. But do you go into the interview and really identify why you are worth the higher salary? Do you know why nanny care is worth the investment...

National Association for Nanny Care What are the kid's costumes this year?? Do you help make homemade costumes or are they more interested in store bought?

I'd be happy to make them, but their mom loves going through catalogs with them and picking out ones to order. We have a butterfly fairy (who calls herself a princess), Princess Aurora, and Buzz Lightyear.

National Association for Nanny Care Disney offers refund to consumers who bought Baby Einstein videos. Their claim that these videos are educational for infants is proven to be false marketing as studies show there are no benefits and potentially harmful effects for children under 2 watching tv. Do you use Baby Einstein or other "educational" videos? At what age? Is there any benefit?

Source: www.abc4.com
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Millions of parents have introduced their infants and toddlers to Baby Einstein products but the videos have been the target of critics, who say the misrepresented themselves as educational tools.

Glad to hear it...as personally I have never liked them- and knew their claim was untrue. While we are on the subject, I don't like Disney either...

I think it can be detrimental if it is used solely as a means of teaching children to talk or to educate. Baby Einstein should be used as a supplement to a parent or guardian interacting with the child, not just as a substitute.

I wonder about this as well....but how is it different than using food for crafts like apple painting or gluing macaroni or making necklaces?? Not sure where the line is drawn. I also wonder what ages this would be good for.

I also have used malt o meal for a sensory activity with babies. I let it sit over night in the fridge and kinda had a jello texture but gritty. some loved it others didnt. I think its ok as long as it does not happen all the time.

National Association for Nanny Care Play is so important! Especially for toddlers and preschoolers. This was a good article to remind us all of the basics. And great for sharing with parents who want to over schedule kids. Do your kids have enough time to just play?

My mb and I sometimes hear about the crazy packed schedules of other toddlers and preschoolers and wonder if we have "enough" scheduling...then we hear the three tiny people giggling together in a make believe fort, or join them in using the couch as a pirate ship, and we realize they don't need all that other stuff if we are actually paying attention to them and playing with them!

I give a BIG AMEN to the above comments....I am hoping my MB does not "schedule" my little one with a lot next year.. She is very independent and loves to babble and play and interact with children now..She has a wild imagination at times..and I feed into that.. :)
