National Polka Festival
The National Polka Festival® in Ennis, Texas invites everyone to come help us celebrate forty three wonderful years of Czech Heritage Festivities. Held annually on Memorial Day Weekend, the National Polka Festival® offers an abundance of activities to be enjoyed by the entire family in a small city atmosphere. At 10:00... a.m. on Saturday morning the many entries of floats, bands and colorful costumes will kick-off the downtown festivities for the 43rd annual National Polka Festival® in Ennis. The parade traditionally includes something for visitors of all ages. Enjoy the music of our polka bands riding on decorated floats or the sounds of our award winning EHS marching band. The Shriners make their annual appearance as well as celebrities, public officials, motorcycles, horseback riders, clowns, kids, and seniors! This giant parade that twists through Historic downtown Ennis is sure to please and is a great way to kick off this fun-filled weekend. You can also learn our Czechoslovakian traditions, religious customs, folk dances, tastes, sights and sounds Friday through Sunday, May 22-24, 2009. Your whole family will be joined by many visitors and Ennisites while enjoying a “little bit of old Czechoslovakia” on the streets of Historic downtown Ennis and in our Three spacious, air-conditioned Czech Halls.
