What a bunch of freakin hypocrits (Hollyweird). First it takes a Canadian newspaper to : break this story". Does no one wonder how 13 year olds die of overdoses and why there is an entire population of 12-30 year old anorexic, plastically rebuilt women inhabiting an area around the size of Central Park. Neither can any of the Police, Federal Marshalls, ATF or undercover FBI agents seem to find what every 12 year old to Corey Haim can: DRUGS. HARD DRUGS.

While i think it is ridiculous to waste precious Federal/Prov or State dollars on ferretting out maijuana, there are designer drugs which are dangerous (deadly) and entirely unregulated. ....And, of course, everything in between.

I think of Robert Downey, Jr. who was repeatedly given a pass as an actor, no matter how badly his behaviour (an incident with an automobile, cocaine, alcohol and a Walther i believe) comes to mind.... See More

Was this "actor" ever sweated in a room until he named names? Any other actor, A-list person, politician? What would happen to you under similar circumstances? Let's ask that same question without the firearm charge or DUI. YOU would still go away, baby. Because drugs are the boogie man. The one we love to hate and hate to love. America's bad romance.

And yes, Downey _did_ wind up doing time. He wasn't even allowed out for casting calls on one occasion! OMG! Do you think he slept, ate, walked, interacted at all in what is called general population? Would you be able to cut that deal for yourself? Because you are vulnerable? JAJAJAJAJA

Prisons (particularly the Federal ones where drug offenders are sent) are literal havens for those who prey upon the vulnerable at any cost.......they are drugggies and dealers (and prolly pimps and child pornographers on the side: diversify!), REMEMBER????

No, you would be what TV has taught us would be "the bitch".
Or "the thug". Neither one is left with apropriate life experiences to ever be released into the public domain again.

So what? Either create vacation homes for all prisoners or treat "A-listers" just like you or i would be treated and go after the "big guys".

Even more sensible, legalize it! All of it. Create something like LLBO's and swipe cards that will work system-wide (nationally) and allow some amount and a free bed (think of all the empty homes you know of) to flop out. Alcoholics to drug addicts will be free of the system which kills them (the drugs it is PROVEN do little damage, and certainly to no one but themselves), and communities can sleep slightly easier at night.

Oh, and then the police, marshalls, feds, etc can focus on REAL problems on your dime (tax $ies).

National Post The opposition benches and certain elements of the Ottawa press pack have
become desperate to find any sort of muck they can make stick.

For weeks now they've been crowding the streets of Ottawa, brandishing pitchforks and torches, demanding retribution for the monster government sewn together by Stephen Harper and foisted on the unhappy villagers of Canada.

Are we to surrender these hard-won rights in favour of the hectic emotions of people who claim a distant kinship with a quasi-mythological figure who was uneasy with both reading and writing and preferred to recite?

I wish the right of free speech was less biased. These days it seems quite acceptable to bash Muslims and all that they believe in but a single article about Jews, Holocaust denial (btw I'm not a Holocaust denier) or 9/11 conspiracies is enough to put a journalist out of work.
By all means, we must not surrender for the hard-won rights of free ... See Morespeech but at the same time we must understand that many will take offense and it is their right to retaliate within the boundaries of the law.
And as far as religious figures go, Muhammad is quite pleasant compared to some of the other blokes like Moses, Solomon and even most Catholic popes.

Harper is never going to deliver a majority. He keeps shooting off his mouth when the time's right for him. He blew it in the last election, he blew it with prorogation round 2 and he's gonna find some other way of killing any chance of a majority. Time to kick him out and get Peter Mackay! lol PM for PM that's a funny one
