Indiana is Middle American heartland, with small towns, rolling hills, cornfields and cattle, and the little pink houses of which native son, John Mellencamp, famously sang. And fall is a great time to visit.

Why are hills always rolling? Good heavens. Can't some of them jitterbug or tango or bounce or something?

Karen What fun to read a quote by NSNC member in my local paper!

"It's a full attack," said Ventura County Fire Department Spokesman, Bill Nash.No not martians on the beach...the wild fires spreading through rural Ventura County. Story photo by Ventura County Star's James Glover.
Congrats guys!

(I'd give you the online paper link but it's my main competitor/nemesis ;)

Just show up at every darn party you can find, and write brilliantly about it. On a blog or news site, etc.

Oh, the power! Thanks George :)

Pat Are there any columnists out there who have written about or agreed to the new terms Amazon has created for publishing blogs on Kindle? I see some major newspaper blogs have signed up yet the terms seem outrageous...not the pricing as much as "rights". Thoughts? Thanks.

I don't know about this rights grab from Amazon, but it's another in an ongoing series. They had tried to assume text-to-voice rights without other payment to writers several months ago and the Authors Guild got on that right away and Amazon had to back down.
Amazon will soon put advertising in their Kindled books, and naturally, authors like me ... Read Morewho have paid for the service won't see a dime.
It would be helpful if more people whom this will affect would speak up again against Amazon's latest rights grab.

Thanks, Judy. I had heard about the protest by the Guild to the text-to-voice rights, but had not heard the outcome. Is the Guild the only writers organization/association that has the ability to "speak up" AND be heard by Amazon?
