Do you need to water these, use antidessicant spray? How do you keep them fresh through the holidays? Thanks.

No need to water, but spraying with WiltStop does help keep them fresher longer. These (greens) will usually last thru most of the winter.

Marlo

Marlo Just realized yesterday that our Canadian Red Chokecherry tree has black knot fungus. The few branches that it was on we cut off the tree. What else do we need to do to keep it from coming back? Do we need to burn the branches/twigs it infected?

Yes, that will work. Or just be sure to throw them away. You can apply a fungicide next spring for added protection. Watch for any outbreaks and prune out from tree. It is an air borne disease, not soil borne.

Donna Hoffman

Donna Hoffman I just read your note to wrap young trees to keep deer from polishing their antlers on the trunk. It's already happened to me. When I saw it I immediately bought some black corrugated plastic pipe and put it around the tree trunk. I hope I wasn't too late. Will the plastic pipe protect the ripped bark?

The plastic pipe is just to protect from more damages. You need to take a utility knife and remove the loose bark from the tree, so remaining bark is firmly attached to the trunk. It's called Bark Tracing. Do not use tree paint to cover the wounds. Clean them up and let the tree go from there to seal over. If it's more than 50% around the tree, that is NOT a good thing. Good lcuk with it.
