Nebraska Republican Party
National AP: A state Republican Party leader accused Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., of trying to have it both ways by talking conservative back home and voting with liberals in Washington."Nebraskans are finally wising up that there are two Ben Nelsons," said Nebraska GOP Chairman Mark Fahleson. "There's the Washington Ben ...Nelson ... who gave Democrats the vote they wanted. Then there's the Nebraska Ben Nelson ... who comes back here to Nebraska and tries to portray himself as a conservative."Read More

I received a letter today from Senator Nelson's office, thanking me for contacting them. Unfortunately I wrote to them about health care, and the letter thanks me for writing him about the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force! I hope this is not reflective of what will happen if ObamaCare passes, or one day I may go in for surgery to have my right leg amputated and wake up and find my left leg gone!

Nebraska Republican Party The Wall St. Journal is onto Sen. Ben Nelson's faux acting: "The designated role for the "moderates" is to protest and posture enough to claim to have "improved" the bill before they inevitably acquiesce in it becoming law. The play's the thing."

The Wall Street Journal writes that he only real drama of the Senate's Saturday vote to proceed with a debate on a vast new health-care entitlement was how much publicity and pork the supposedly fence-sitting Democrats could exact in exchange for a vote that was a foregone conclusion. ...

Nebraska Republican Party In Case You Missed It: Treasurer Shane Osborn- Does the state have your money?

Many of us have accounts we haven't checked up on in a while: savings accounts we started for a specific goal that we've since put on hold; dividend reinvestment accounts we started to finance a child's higher education.

Escheatment or eminent domain, government these days seems to be about the money and not service to the people.
Greed weather the motivation is personal, political or financial; excuses can always be made for the courts to support.
We the people need to reform these policies to prevent any further abuse.

One of my professors at UNL always spoke about being the preverbial barking dog.
The NEGOP might be better off setting forth an action plan for a positive approach to politics instead of appearing like a bunch of whiners.
I suggest you look at the 'Positive Republicans' page. I would also consider putting forth individuals that don't stink from ... Read Morefrom their own behavior. The people can smell those that have dumped a load of bull and called it pizza, pie or cookies.
You know who you are, don't make the good hardworking people that are the core of the party look bad by what the leadership of the party has done on their own accord.

Greg. I think you're absolutely wrong. And I think it is the Nebraska Republicans that have made it so Nebraska is not in as sorry a shape as many other of the states. Nebraska, for the most part is doing so much better than other states that have Democratic leadership. You're so full of accusations and lack any real good imput what so ever.

Jacqueline, I suggest you go out and talk to the farmers that work every day of their lives from before sun up to after sun down. Good hard work is the key to success and placing blame where it belongs is sometimes hard to take especially when it hits close to home. Before I can go out and blame any other party and or entity; I first look at the ... Read Morebehavior of the members of my own party and I do not like what I see being done and the excuses being made that have no merrit. I do have constructive input: Quit wasting money on programs that are a bottomless pit with no positive results to show for it.
The farmers and ranchers of this state already live on such a slim margin as a direct result from the property taxes, income taxes and all of the hidden taxes and fees on the supplies required to be a successful agricultural business operation it is no suprise that there was such a non-partisan uprising against what is being attempted in the Unicameral. The lack of leadership in the NEGOP to continually work on fiscal responsibilty and efficiency of the state's operations is where the blame needs to be placed. The issue is not one particular item but an overal policy and each year when the Unicameral runs out of money and the members of the Unicameral start running around like a bunch of addicts that need a fix has to come to an end. We need quality leadership that can put in place long term plans in order to make our state more efficient with spending our hard earned money. Yes, Jacquelin it is that simple. All programs need consistent review and the waste needs to be cut out. I agree with you that we are not in as poor shape of other states but we are not as in good of a fiscal position as the state has been in the past and we need to get back to the fiscal position we have been in the past. I thank you for your reply to my post and let us continue to discuss the issues we have before us because, it can only make us stronger individuals and a continue to enjoy 'Nebraska, The Good Life'...

My objection to this posting is that when our party really was the majority party (or trying to be) in the 70s and 80s, a person could be a pro-choice Republican and not feel unwelcome. Not true today.

Unless we accept opposing viewpoints---even those that we may bitterly disagree with---we cannot become the party we can be and should be.
