One Ohio dairyman is on a crusade to put cows back on pastures and bring the flavor back to milk. Warren Taylor runs Snowville Creamery, and he's trying to make milk the way it was made 40 years ago, when, he insists, it tasted better.

dairy cows don't require growth hormones to make milk.. Grazing vegetative green grass is all it takes for the milk to taste better, drastically better. Livestock on pasture only rarely require medical attention of any sort. Grazing is bio-mass neutral. In other words if a pasture is left fallow and allowed to rot just as much CO2 and methane are ... See Moreproduced as if that grass were eaten by a ruminant. So, we might as well harvest it with a cow, sheep or goat. Most of the worlds land surface is not suitable for crop production.

in addition a grass based dairy is the least cost production of producing milk. At least it would be if the consumer had to pay the true cost of "conventional milk".
