New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce From October 11th to October 19th, this trip took travelers through some of China's ancient cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou. The Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Tiger Hill and the Longjing Green Tea Plantation were just some of the highlights.

After a Summer break, the Good Morning SouthCoast! breakfast series returned on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. The featured speaker was Christy Mihos, founder of the Christy's Market chain of convenience stores and candidate for Governor of Massachusetts.
The program also included a presentation by Vince Droser, Vice Pres...ident of Development for Trinity Financial on their $14 million renovation plans for the recently purchased Regency Towers in New Bedford and a brief presentation on the Chamber's SouthCoast Electric Power Group by Bill O'Brien of Risk Services Group.

The New Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce organized and convened a meeting of business and community leaders to discuss local option tax proposals being considered by several communities in the SouthCoast. The proposals include a new local meals tax of .75% and up to a 2% increase in the hotel occupancy tax.
