Advertising Club of New Orleans A pioneer in the Alternate Reality Game (ARG) space, Susan Bonds is behind some of 42 Entertainment’s most critically acclaimed interactive experiences. As President and CEO of the immersive-entertainment agency, Susan develops and directs the teams that design, create, and execute 42’s diverse array of projects and e...xperiences.

In 2008, Susan led the team’s behind the groundbreaking ARG, Why So Serious?, for Warner Bros.’ The Dark Knight, the blockbuster film that went on to become the second-highest grossing movie of all time. More than 10-million people around the world participated in the transmedia experience, which brought Gotham City to life through various mediums and platforms. The ARG won the Cyber Grand Prix at the 2009 Cannes Lions, Integrated Campaign Webby Awards, and Art Director’s Club Hybrid Award. In 2007, the 42 Entertainment team took the music world by storm, working with Nine Inch Nails to produce Year Zero, a first-of-its-kind concept album, combining music with multimedia and interactive storytelling, and also won the 2008 Cyber Grand Prix.

Other notable 42 Entertainment campaigns include, ilovebees, the 2004 ARG used to launch Microsoft’s wildly popular X-Box game Halo 2, Project Abraham, for the 2008 launch of Sony Playstation’s Resistance 2, and The Vanishing Point, a 2007 global puzzle event to promote Windows Vista.

Before founding 42 Entertainment, Susan was Chief Design and Production Officer for Cyan Worlds, a company best known for creating the worlds of Myst and Riven, two of the best-selling PC games of all time, to create a Massively Multiplayer Online game, URU: Ages Beyond Myst, and realMyst, the popular PC game in real time 3D.

Susan also worked for ten years as a Creative Director/Senior Show Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering, where she produced Alien Encounters, Indiana Jones Adventure and Mission: SPACE, groundbreaking attractions with proprietary new ride systems. Susan has an Engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MBA from Georgia State University.

Experience Design is an emerging discipline that offers innovative approaches to emb...edding brands within culture and offering new forms of advertising. The practice seamlessly integrates storytelling, branding and media, creating highly-curated immersive environments. These places are transformed by some of the most fascinating innovations in design, science, art, film-making and culture. They are made of streaming media – digital, liquid, electronic.

Using inspirations from projects across the world and the work of WET Design, this session will consider current trends in the fusion of design, technology and architecture.

Steve Wax is Founding Partner & Chief Narratologist at Campfire Media in New York City, a viral marketing and advertising company specializing in branded entertainment. By using new media and interactive storytelling..., Campfire creates ad campaigns that deeply involve consumers and spread through non-traditional channels. Recent examples include sending bloggers unmarked packages containing their own obituaries and chomped-up bathing suits for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, creating a widespread vampire rights debate for HBO’s True Blood, and producing a reality TV show for Verizon’s FiOS brand.

In addition to the awards that Campfire has won for its ad campaigns, Steve has been nominated for both an Oscar and an Emmy. Other notables: Steve helped create the San Francisco film collective Cine Manifest, attended UCLA film school with Jim Morrison and the Doors, and drives a fire engine red ’68 Mustang Fastback.
