The Historic New Orleans Collection
Presentation and Book Signing by David Guas
author of DamGoodSweet: Desserts to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth, New Orleans Style
Tuesday, December 8 • 2–4 p.m.
533 Royal Street
After his childhood neighborhoods were nearly erased by Hurricane Katrina, pastry chef David Guas knew he needed to record and preserve not only the des...serts of his family and region, but his memories as well. DamGoodSweet is part dessert cookbook, part travelogue—and really shines with beautiful food photography, nostalgic stories of New Orleans and delicious recipes.
DamGoodSweet has already garnered tremendous reviews in its short time on the shelves. It was selected by Food & Wine Magazine as one of three of the “Best Dessert Cookbooks” for 2009, and was featured as one of four “Best Upcoming Cookbook Releases” in Garden & Gun’s Talk of the South Newsletter. DamGoodSweet has also been featured in The New York Times and The Washington Post, and was one of three baking books selected by Saveur Magazine that “make baking more fun than ever.” It has also been selected for AOL’s Gift Guide as one of the best cookbooks of 2009.
David Guas will be at The Collection discussing his latest release on Tuesday, December 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Copies of the book are available at The Shop at The Collection for $25.00.
