“A shattering play of intense action, written in the language of the holocaust. One of the most important political and cultural events of the last few years.” -Christopher St. Magazine
“Martin Sherman’s BENT is relevant to events and facts today of life throughout the world where gay people are often put at a disadvantage by the laws of whatever country they happen to live in. Although things are improving, I think it’s because of this story that Martin Sherman has told so strongly presenting the case for human understanding and what it is to be gay.” -original BENT star Sir Ian McKellenRead More

Modernized and reset in the plastic/metal world of today’s faceless, technology-filled hyper-speed Manhattan, Dead City is a mind-blowingly creative triptych by the hot young bad-girl playwright Sheila Callaghan.
Playwright Callaghan has taken the classic story and structure of Ulysses named the #1 English-language nove...l of the 20th Century by the Modern Library, and has transformed it into an entirely 21st century tale, reversing the gender of Joyce’s Leopold Bloom into Samantha Blossom. Callaghan’s play riffs on each of the famous 18 episodes of Ulysses, finding explosive and experimental theatrical versions of Ulysses’ stream-of-consciousness and experimental techniques, broad humor and bold sexuality.
Dead City runs from February 6-22 and is directed by New Stage’s producing artistic director Alan Patrick Kenny.
