For most, selling a product or service in either a B2C or B2B context is just too tough of a job. Many believe top sellers (regardless of vertical) hold some sort of magical black book......Guess what?

Joly- thank you very much for sharing. The viewpoint we take is from the realm of optimization theory- which maintains that there is no feasible way to simultaneously optimize.

I think too many companies today run off the "maximize shareholder value" mentality and (as we see with companies like AIG, Lehman Brothers, Enron, etc., etc.) it doesn't always drive ethical and responsible behavior. I believe what you say is true; if the primary goal of your operation is to maximize the customer's satisfaction you're working for ... See Morethe customer, not the shareholders, and relentlessly striving to identify customer needs and exceed expectations. This motive undoubtedly will grow and retain your customer base while ultimately reaping exceptional returns.

After all, the success of the company shouldn't be measured by share price or dividends but rather the company's ability to satisfy their customers. If you strive to maximize customer satisfaction, maximizing shareholder value will follow. I think many companies need move away from their old school way of thinking and reevaluate their priorities.
