JOFA
Join JOFA at New York University for a screening of the film Mekudeshet: Sentenced to Marriage, following by Q&A with Dean Michelle Greenberg-Kobrin of Columbia Law School.
One of the most painful challenges facing the Jewish community is the issue of the agunah, a wife trapped in a dead marriage, chained to a husband w...ho refuses to grant her a Get (religious divorce). Unable to remarry, unable to move forward, these women’s lives are passing them by. Mekudeshet, a documentary by Anat Zuria, chronicles the struggle of three young Israeli women to obtain a Get with the help of a group of Toanot (Orthodox female rabbinical court advocates).
The screening will take place at the NYU Kimmel Center (60 Washington Square South), room 802 at 7:30 pm. It is free and there will be light refreshments.
(co-sponsored by Shalhevet and Hillel at NYU)
Time:7:30PM Wednesday, October 28th
Location:NYU Kimmel Center
