East, W...est and Midwest dance come together for an intense (2) two day workshop. Come be apart of a training workshop taught by teachers from the New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago areas. Instructors have diverse professional backgrounds from Broadway shows to dance companies, National tours, commercials and video credits. This program is guaranteed to challenge the student physically and provide the student with knowledge of today's contemporary dance world. A chance to learn techniques and dance styles of three well known cities for dance, all in one place. A great way to spend your spring break. Classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary modern/jazz, and musical theatre.

You...ng Dancer Weekend - (No Audition Required)
Dates: 06/11/10 – 06/13/10
The Joffrey Ballet School’s Young Dancer ballet intensive is designed for young dancers with a love for dance and that want to immerse themselves in the art of ballet. This program gives youngest beginning dance students a taste of the intensive routine, while only spending two nights away from home. This intensive is designed to prepare the student for the level of technique and artistry required for the Junior Trainee Summer Intensive. Students are systematically taught ballet exercises at the barre and center floor, progressing towards more complex combinations.
There are 25 spots in each level of this program. Audition is NOT required for this age group. Students will be taken on a first-applied, first-accepted basis.
The Joffrey Ballet School Young Dancer program is designed to systematically and progressively educate the young dancer in the seven basic movements of dance: to bend, to extend, to rise, to glide, to jump, to dart, and to turn.
The Joffrey Ballet School program is sensitive to the physical and mental development of the individual rather than having an expectation based on age. The objective is to empower the young dancer through coordination exercises in ballet that are appropriate for their stage of physical and mental development.
Junior Trainee - Intermediate Workshop (Audition Required)
One Week Session: 06/13/10 – 06/19/10
Two Week Session: 06/20/10 – 07/02/10
Three Week Session: 06/13/10 – 07/02/10
The Joffrey South Workshop offers intermediate students ages 11-14 a one-to-three-week, in-depth ballet experience. Daily technique will be offered in ballet, pointe, variations, and new choreography. This workshop will culminate in a student demonstration on the final day of the third week. This is a wonderful introduction to summer dance away from the familiarity of the student’s home studio. Students participate in six, twelve or eighteen days of ballet, pointe, and variations, augmented with a foot care seminar, history of ballet, and other dance related classes. Emphasis will also be placed upon body conditioning.
Classes will continue as recreational/enrichment dance classes. Students enrolling in the the Junior Trainee Summer intensive must audition to be placed in an appropriate level.
Disclaimer: The Two Week Session and and the Three week Sessions will participate in a performance demonstration at Russell Auditiorium on July 2.
Advanced Trainee - Advanced Workshop (Audition Required)
One Week Session: 06/13/10 – 06/19/10

This Joffrey South Workshop offers advanced students ages 15-21 a three-week, in-depth ballet experience. Daily technique will be offered in ballet, pointe, variations, pas der deux, broadway, jazz and new choreography. On the final day of the program students will perform in a demonstration on the stage at Russell Auditorium. Students attending this Joffrey South Workshop will be considered for enrollment in the Joffrey Ballet School’s year-long program in New York City. Emphasis will also be placed upon body conditioning.
The goal is to train young dancers in the classical ballet technique, artistry and versatility required for an active career in a professional company. Further, the Trainee Program frequently provides disciplined dancers with the opportunity to perform in professional arenas while continuing their training. The Trainee Program demands a deep commitment on the part of the students.

The Joffrey Ballet School’s... summer dance camps introduce children to an exciting world of creativity, movement, and fun. During the summer we have camps for children ages 3 to 9. Below you will find sample schedules for the various age groups. All activities are held at the Joffrey Ballet School’s studios in the West Village and are conducted by our experienced and caring staff.
Each week long workshop is designed to encourage creativity through the exploration of a theme using dance, arts, crafts, music and food. A Friday In -studio performance culminates each week long workshop.
Each one week session is $325 (8:45AM to 11:45 AM)

Overview
The Joffrey Ballet School is very excited to bring you the Summer of Jazz & Contemporary Intensives and Weekend Workshops. Since its foundation four years ago, the Joffrey Ballet School Jazz and Contemporary Program has been at the forefront of providing students with the widest range of contemporary techniques. The program explores innovative and cutting edge Jazz and Contemporary movement. It couples cutting edge dance along with classical training for dancers to improve their capabilities and expand their technical range. The program is all encompassing; students can improve in their technical abilities, while growing as artists by being exposed to new and innovative dance techniques. These programs were conceived for students that want to push beyond the realm of technique and rules. It is targeted for dancers who are interested in exploring new ideas and approaches to movement while being exposed to the new emerging dance world. The program forges excellence and creates the art of motion.

Dates: June 14th through August 9th
Minimum Attendance: 2 Week
Maximum Attendance: 6 Weeks
Age Group: 10 – 13 years of age
Session 1: June 14th to June 25th, 2010
Session 2: June 28th to July 9th, 2010
Session 3: July 12th to July 23rd, 2010
Session 4: July 26th to August 6th, 2010
Registration Fee: $75.00
Tuition: $800.00 per two-week session

The Joffrey Ballet School’s ballet intensive is designed for young dancers with a minimum of three years of ballet experience who love dance and want to immerse themselves in the art of ballet. This intensive is designed to perpare the student for the level of technique and artistry required for the upper level Summer Intensive in New York. Students are systematically taught ballet exercises at the barre and center floor, progressing towards more complex combinations and work on pointe. It is not required that the student already be on pointe in order to audition. The intensive will be divided between those students on pointe and those students who are pre-pointe. There are 25 spots in each level of this program. Audition is required for this age group. You may attend an audition on our tour, make an appointment to audition at the school or send in a Video / DVD.
