Please join us on Thursday, December 3rd at Nada for a performance by Jacques Louis Vidal and Justin Lieberman.
Regions north of NYC seem to have their own particular linguistic and aesthetic codes. The long-standing tradition of "painting suits," crudely constructed outfits made of small paintings on board or canvas a...nd then used for performative purposes, has been taking place since the mid 80's. Underground livestock auctioneer competitions held after hours at Cumberland Farms in Philmont, NY and MC battles at Pleasant Moments Nightclub in Bridgeport, CT have both developed lively and highly devoted followings and are central to the phenomenon. Area practitioners Jacques Vidal and Justin Lieberman will be presenting a rare traveling performance of this energetic combination of circus barking and fashion in which painting is repurposed to bizarre and surprising effect. Please join us for a wild and wooly exhibition in which everything does NOT occur "inside the frame."
