Hi. We are a "business program within an arts school." So, yes, students learn all aspects of business. As for concert management, we did offer a class for the first time this semester which is a huge success, "Curating Live Music Events" for which the students enrolled curated and produced many of the department's events this fall.

Hello my name is Kiah Victoria. I am curious as to whether or not it is mandatory to submit the NYU regular admissions application and the Clive Davis Portfolio/Artistic materials at the same time. I have just about completed my NYU regular admission application but I am still working on my portfolio. Should I go on an...d submit my NYU application? Or, should I finish my portfolio first and submit everything simultaneously?
Thank you for your time.

You can submit each whenever they are ready, but they will not get reviewed until the due date. They are two completely separate parts of the process. Undergraduate admissions reviews your academics, and the portfolio review committee reviews the creative portfolio. Just submit one or both whenever they are ready to go!

On average, how many elements do the portfolios that don't feature any recorded items have? (e.g. I'm not a performer, so I don't have any videos/demos etc) And will the admissions committee visit webpage links that I provide for the creative sample?

Thank you in advance! I've been very interested in the program for awh...ile now. Just another question - will you have a Friday information session the day after Thanksgiving this year?Read More

Yes, if you provide links, they will go look at them. It doesn't have to be audio or video. Hi Devin, what is most important is that you show yourself as an ENTREPRENEUR. How are you going to lead the industry whether it be as a performer entrepreneur, producer entrepreneur, executive entrepreneur, or journalist entrepreneur. Raja Muizz Hi, im from Malaysia. I was looking at your BFA course and it states that if i already have a degree, i cannot enter. Are there any other options? Summer courses? Will the Steindhart school give me the same oppurtunities Tisch does? It seems that Steindhart graduate programme focusses on Film scores. Im not interested in that. Can you help providing me with for info on what i should do? Thanks

Hi Raja. Yes, NYU policy states that if a student already has a bachelor's degree, the student can only apply to NYU for a graduate degree or above. With this in mind, anyone is welcome to take any of our summer courses. Check back on our website in the spring when we will post our Summer 2010 schedule! Otherwise, if you are looking for a full time program, Steinhardt does have graduate degrees worth checking out. Give them a call! Thanks.

No. Also listed it will say what days each class meets in the window date. So, for instance..."May 16 - June 26" is the window, but the class may meet every Mon, Wed, and Fri, in that window.

On Wednesday night, NYU’s Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music at Tisch School of the Arts was proud to co-host with Sony Music Entertainment the great singer-songwriter-producer Alicia Keys in the inaugural event of a 3-city lecture and performance series called The Element of Freedom. It was held at The Skirball ...Center for the Performing Arts, to a packed crowd.

Hundreds of NYU students were given free tickets to attend the grand event.
Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music students got the special opportunity to sit right up front in the orchestra pit seats, where they were only an arms length away from the superstar as she did a Q&A with MTV host Sway, and then performed some her classic hits with a full band and debuted new material from her forthcoming album also titled The Element of Freedom, set to be released on December 1st.

We created some unique opportunities for our students to get involved with this event. During the Q&A, Clive Davis Department students were specially selected to Alicia questions. In addition, NYU students enrolled in Adjunct Professor Kobi Wu-Pasmore’s Curating Live Music Events course were given the special opportunity to observe and assist the production and design team for rehearsals and sound check for this event. Lucky students!
