Thanks to NRPA Leadership, as well as many of you, Parks and Recreation was added back in as eligible recipients for project funding.
NRPA, as well as our Interim Executive Director Kate Quinn, and Legislative Chair Rich Rose, has been sending us information and updates regarding the status of this stimulus package, ...and where Parks and Recreation stood as the bill went from the House, to the Senate, to the joint committee, to the President. They also asked us to call our political representatives, to encourage them to support Parks and Recreation in the text of the bill. Many of us did just that. We called and emailed our Congressional and Senate representatives, and as a result, Parks and Recreation was added back into the bill. New York State Recreation and Park Society (NYSRPS) Over 8,000 park and recreation professionals from around the country converged in Baltimore, Maryland October 14- 17, 2009, including a large contingency form New York. Many of the New York delegates, along with those from Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, attended the Mid-Atlantic Social at Power Point... Live on Wednesday, October 15. A good time was had by all.
