Out of touch with 4chan's /b/ board? Lost in friendly conversations about LOLcats? Not in tune with your social circle's references to online epherma? Join the New York Web Television Meetup, Tilzy.TV, Urlesque, and the Know Your Meme crew for some serious internet p...op culture edification.
On Wednesday, July 22, at the lovely confines of DROM, Kenyatta Cheese, Elspeth Rountree, and Internet Scientist Jamie Wilkinson will put their meme-knowing-prowess to the test as Urlesque's numba one stunna Kelly Reeves grills them on what makes internet phenomenons phenomenal. The New York Web TV Meetup is a monthly event devoted to celebrating and supporting innovation in the exploding digital entertainment industry and bringing together the dynamic web television community.
Each month, we’ll take an in-depth look at the processes and peop...le behind some of the most successful entertainment products created for broadband distribution, followed by networking with industry peers, artists, executives, producers, and up-and-comers.
This month...'You Suck at Photoshop'!
Troy Hitch and Matt Bledsoe created Big Fat Brain in 2004 to inspire quality consumer conversations with entertaining, relevant, and immersive experiences sans traditional marketing messages.
To date, successes include the incredibly awesome You Suck at Photoshop, Greg the Architect and The TeknoChronicles of Z.
BFB has been nominated for four Streamy Awards, five Webby Awards (winning for both “How To” and “Comedy” in 2008), and has been featured and lauded in print and online in the pages of Time Magazine, AdAge, Wired, and - of course and on multiple occasions - Tilzy.TV.
We’re excited for an in-depth conversation with Troy and Matt where we’ll talk about the genesis of You Suck at Photoshop and their other online video projects, the novel ways in which they integrate the audience (eBay auctions and Skype calls were just the beginning), and their super secret project which they’ll be unveiling at the event.
Our Very Special Night with Big Fat Brain will be followed by mixing and mingling with some of New York City’s movers and shakers of online video and Web TV…
We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

This month....
Fred Seibert is a media and marketing sensation whose influence has shaped the future of entertainment. He's also a good friend to Tilzy.TV.
We're excited for an in-depth conversation followed by mixing and mingling with some of New York City's movers and shakers of online video and Web TV.
More about Fred...
As MTV's first creative director who went on to remake Nickelodeon, run famed animation studio Hannah Barbara, create digital and television animation studio Frederator and found a next generation television network, Next New Networks, Fred is a creative visionary with big insights and a bigger personality.
Fred's career in his words:
"Does it seem strange for a former jazz cat to morph into a TV executive, and then turn into a cartoon producer who sets out to pioneer the new frontier of video on the Internet? Not to me.
For me it's all part of a very clear continuum. I'm attracted to community, to places where disenfranchised people find what they love, and find each other and get creative. I'm attracted to heart and soul and humor, and to things that are wild, weird and unpredictable.
I guess you could say I'm attracted to crazy. With any luck I'll have a few more crazy lives to add to this document in the years ahead."
