Tomorrow kicks off the 25th anniversary of the North Charleston Arts Festival, selected last year by the Southeast Tourism Society as a "Top 20 Event." And the ensuing nine days present a busy schedule that includes an array of performances from national, regional and local acts.

The public is invited to attend Morningside Middle’s PASS Spring Carnival. Attractions include a dunking booth, games, jump castles, and an appearance by Charlie the River Dog. Enjoy performances by Pantasia Steel Band at 11:30 am and Adande African Drum & Dance at 12:30 pm. In addition, community representatives from the North Charleston Fire and Police departments will be present to offer safety tips.

6:00–8:30 pm} The Poetry Show at The Navy Base Memorial, featuring Madea Goes to Jail actress, Tamika Harper (aka Georgia Me); Abyss, from BET’s Somebodies; and local spoken word poets, Los the Host, Khalid, Marcus Amaker, Chyrra, and Jaha Knight.
7:30–8:00 pm} Presentation of American, tribal-style, belly dance by Callypso Rising Tribal Bellydance Troupe.
8:00 pm} Multi-Cammy award-winning variety band, Billy Scott & the Party Prophets, will present an exciting, evening concert. The group will get the crowd dancing with beach, blues, Motown, and oldies tunes.
9:00 pm} Fabulous fireworks over the Cooper River conclude the evening. Other attractions include children’s activities, inflatable jump castles, and hula-hoop demonstrations by Homespun Hoops. Bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy a great ending to this year’s Arts Festival! Food concessions will be available for purchase.

The event will also feature an exhibition of original paintings and poetry by Clyde Washington of the Inspirational Art Gallery. Washington, who grew up in Liberty Hill in North Charleston, now lives in New York.

Ticket packages include dinner, performance, gratuity, and parking pass.

Join this dedicated musician and master guitarist for an evening of original Blues music. Mojo Collins has performed all over the country for 20 years and has released numerous albums. He has played with and opened for several well-known musicians including Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, Steve Miller, Santana, The Grateful Dead, Ike and Tina Turner, Muddy Waters, Sly & the Family Stone, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, just to name a few.
