Hunger in North Texas is not a new issue, but it now has a new story. Thousands of North Texans who never dreamed they’d ever need help from a food bank are finding themselves hungry for the first time.

They are the children who sit next to your kids in class every day and go hungry every evening. They are the hard-working families in your neighborhood who struggle with the decision to pay bills or buy food. They are the seniors who live around the corner from you and quietly wonder where their next meal is coming fro...m.
In North Texas there is a 29 million meal gap between what people need – 3 meals per day – and what they can currently access. The people affected are children, families, and seniors. They go to our schools, live in our neighborhoods, and work in our community.
Our objective is simple – to provide access to meals for those in need. By 2011, the Food Bank will unite the community to narrow the food gap by providing access to 50 million meals annually.
How can I help Close the Gap? There are many ways you can help close the gap on hunger. You can volunteer your time, host an E-Food & Fund Drive, donate ($1= 4 Meals), or simply be an advocate for NTFB.

Thanks for doing research on the Food Bank! All of our facts can be found on our website, www.ntfb.org. A major misconception is that individuals can come directly to the Food Bank and receive food. The fact is that we partner with 260 Member Agencies that consist of pantries, churches and schools, and they... get the food from the Food Bank and distribute to their clients. We are a distribution center so when people come looking for food, we direct them to a Member Agency in their area.
We strive to provide the best, nutritious products. And we also receive food donations from companies such as Tyson Foods and Mrs. Baird's.Read More
