Partners Graeme Gibson and Margaret Atwood will make a duo appearance in support of their two new releases. Gibson’s Bedside Book of Beasts, a companion to the bestselling Bedside Book of Birds, explores the eternal, often unsettling connection between humans and wild animals, the complex relationship between predator ...and prey. Margaret Atwood is simply one of Canada’s most distinguished authors. Her upcoming release, The Year of the Flood is a brilliant imagining of the future that calls to mind her classic novel The Handmaid’s Tale. Capilano Performing Arts Theatre Exit 22’s fiercely youthful take on this timeless love story addresses head on the challenges inherent in presenting the classics to a modern audience. A student acting company begins rehearsal for Shakespeare’s secondmost performed play and reactions run the gamut from excitement to antipathy, spanning confusion, enga...gement and downright boredom: “What does this have to do with us?” “I’m not wearing tights!” Referencing periods and styles from Elizabethan up to West Side Story, including Baz Luhrman’s movie version, this production is sure to provoke discussion as youth and adult alike grapple with bigotry, loyalty, lust and the law in trying to answer “How far will I go for love?”
