Classic film screening with new original soundtrack by Northampton composer/musician Rahul Roy
The Adventures of Prince Achmed is a 1926 feature-length animated film by the German animator Lotte Reiniger. It is the oldest surviving animated feature film, and it features a silhouette animation technique Reiniger had inve…nted, similar to Wayang shadow puppets, which involved manipulated cutouts made from cardboard and thin sheets of lead under a camera.
The story is based on the elements taken from the collection 1001 Arabian Nights, specifically The Story of Prince Achmed and the Fairy Paribanu featured in Andrew Lang's The Blue Fairy Book.
About the Composer
Rahul Roy is a composer and guitarist from India who has been exploring ways and means to meld musical styles, instruments, and genres, with a view to realizing his vision. Born in England, he has spent the last twenty five years living and working in America as--among other things--an educator, recording artist , father, dreamer, and writer. The music for this film was conceived and recorded exclusively at his studio in Florence.Подробнее
