One Day University invites you to listen to the secrets of Mozart's genius: www.onedayu.com/mozart

One Day University
We're excited to let you know about the next great One Day University event happening on Sunday, April 5th, in San Francisco.
We'll begin the day with Steven Lamy from the University of Southern California, who will be speaking on America’s search for a grand foreign policy strategy in the 21st century. As a professor ...of international relations as well as a consultant to two recent White House Administrations, the Department of Defense, and the CIA, Lamy is particularly qualified to speak on the international policy challenges President Obama faces. After that, we'll hear from Debora Silverman of UCLA, who will help us see Van Gogh's masterworks in a whole new and fascinating way. As you’ll learn, there are three keys to understanding the man and his paintings: his training as a weaver, his interest in portraying people at work, and his religious faith.
Next, Craig Wright from Yale will lecture on the remarkable genius of Mozart. We all know that Mozart was a musical genius, but what exactly does the word “genius” mean? Was he a genius because of his amazing musical abilities as a child or because of the originality of his compositions? Could Mozart really compose entire symphonies in his head, without the aid of a keyboard? Whether you yourself are a musical genius or musically challenged, Wright will guide you through this composer's amazing talents. We’ll wrap up our day with James Morone of Brown, lecturing on the politics of morality in America. Morone is currently one of the most popular professors on the Brown campus. Within minutes of him stepping onto the One Day University stage, you’ll understand why.

One Day University events bring you four great professors in one great day. There's another One Day University experience coming up on Saturday, April 4th in Los Angeles, and we hope to see you there. We’ll begin the day with Craig Wright from Yale, who will lecture on the remarkable genius of Mozart. We all know that ...Mozart was a musical genius, but what exactly does the word “genius” mean? Was he a genius because of his amazing musical abilities as a child or because of the originality of his compositions? Could Mozart really compose entire symphonies in his head, without the aid of a keyboard? Whether you yourself are a musical genius or musically challenged, Wright will guide you through this composer's amazing talents. After that, Nicholas Cull from the University of Southern California will explore the value of a nation's reputation in terms of its foreign policy and national security. Though nations throughout history have known the importance of public diplomacy, today's real-time media environment makes it all the more challenging to be successful. Professor Cull will lay out the stakes in the critical battle for a positive international image for the U.S. and explore key strategies for improving it.

One Day University events bring you four great professors in one great day. Our March 14th event in New York City will include Yale Professor Crag Wright discussing what makes classical music sound great. He will explain how the great works of Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and other celebrated composers all employ a few fund...amental, but largely unknown musical laws, and knowing them will change the way you listen to music.
Also, Brown Professor Wendy Schiller will speak on the state of democracy in 2009 – what would the Founders say? Is the U.S. the democratic republic they envisioned? In addition, Lawrence Wilkerson from the College of William and Mary will explore the complex set of foreign policy issues that President Obama has inherited and lay out what could be the new president’s first national security crisis. Wilkerson’s background is especially fascinating: he’s not just a college professor, but a retired U.S. Army colonel and former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell.
Finally, University of Michigan Professor Ralph Williams will discuss great writing on the Holocaust and how these works influence the way we remember one of the darkest chapters in human history. Professor Williams has been voted best professor on campus nine times. After seeing this powerful lecture, you’ll understand why.

One Day University events bring you four great professors giving their finest lectures. We’ll begin our March 14th event in Morristown with Lawrence Wilkerson, who will be speaking on Iran, Iraq, and President Obama’s first national security crisis. Wilkerson is uniquely qualified to offer some fascinating insights on ...this topic. He’s not only a professor of government at the College of William and Mary, but also a retired U.S. Army colonel and former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell. Next, we’ll hear from Professor Shelley Carson of Harvard, who will help us understand the psychology of bad choices.
Columbia/Barnard Professor Richard Pious will then discuss Abraham Lincoln’s constitutional dictatorship. Today, Lincoln is often considered America’s greatest president. Yet, during the Civil War he chose to suspend some of our most sacred rights in the name of safeguarding the nation. This lecture is a compelling mix of history, politics, and law, and it couldn’t be more timely. Vice President Cheney recently defended the actions of the Bush administration by citing Lincoln’s decisions. After the presentation by Professor Pious, you won’t think about Lincoln or the current debates over executive power the same way again. Finally, Professor Ralph Williams from the University of Michigan will speak on Shakespeare’s Unique Understanding of Life’s Turning Points. Professor Williams has been voted best professor on campus nine times. After seeing this powerful lecture, you’ll understand why.
