Northwoods Humane Society Had an excellent day at the Plant Sale even with rain and cold weather. There's still many plants to choose from so stop by NHS on Sunday from 9-5 and then check out the dogs and cats at the shelter from noon-5pm while you are there.

Northwoods Humane Society From Scott S: Shadow the pommeranian who was adopted recently is doing great in his new home. he is playing well with a rat terrier and 2 yellow labs. They frolick together in the long grass and Shadow's new family couldn't be happier. Thanks NHS!

Northwoods Humane Society From Gail W: letting you all know that Indy (& her owners) came for a visit to NHS on Saturday. She's lost some weight, but obviously gained some muscle. Her coat was nice & shiny, too. She seemed in great condition & spirits. But, I think she might have been afraid that she was going back into the slammer!! The couple that adopted her seemed very happy with her. She's even shown no interest in their cat & parakeets!

Brenda Farr Zelinka We are looking for perennial plants for our sale. Plant Sale Donations
We need plants, pots, plastic blinds and volunteers to help make this sale a huge success. All plants are being donated and all proceeds will benefit the animals of NHS.

What kind of plants should I donate?
• Donate healthy perennials, but things like strawberry flats, raspberry bushes, shrubs, trees, annuals, houseplants, etc. are all good.
• Less common varieties are more desirable, but common things do sell as well.
• Hostas are very popular especially if they are named cultivars.
• Remember, for many gardeners, if it is something they don’t have, they want it.

What size should the plants be?
• Most important is a good root system.
• Since this is a backyard sale with no guarantee on the plants we want to do what we can to ensure they will grow.
• Try to keep divisions to 1 gallon pots or smaller. Things like iris or peony may need bigger pots so use your best judgment.

This sounds like a very fun idea. I will defintely be donating some plants and buying some new ones to spruce up the old farm....and also helping raise some much needed money for Northwoods Humane society's critters.
