Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills cat of the week...SNEAKERS. First the good news, our cat of the week from last week, Sappi, has been adopted. He is living in his new home in Auburn, ME. This week's cat is a young male with a great disposition. He wasn't feeling well when he first arrived and was diagnosed with diabetes. We give him one shot of insuli...n a day and he is doing very well. He wants you to know, "Having diabetes is no big deal. I don't mind getting my shot. I hope that it won't keep me from being adopted." If you have had a diabetic cat let us know. Your input could pursuade someone to adopt Sneakers.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills cat of the week...SAPPI. Sappi's name fits him perfectly. He's just a big lump of a cat. He loves to cuddle in a caregiver's lap. Sappi always looks worried. We asked him what was troubling him and here's what he said, "I'm worried that no one will love me again. I want to feel special. The people here love me but will... the outsiders see that I'm a good boy?" If you are looking for a good lap-warmer, here's your cat.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills We are very happy. This week two more of our long-time residents went home. Hollis and Concho are very happy in their new homes. Hollis literally picked his new owner when she walked into the community and he cozied up to her. Concho is happily making herself at home with one of our shelter caregivers, Sam. Yes, there... is a right cat for everyone and the right owner for every cat.

John Drew You guys rock!!! Our cat, Jayden is doing great!!!

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills Thinking about surprising someone with a kitten as a gift? Here's a couple of things to think about first. Be certain that the person really wants a pet and is able to care for it for the rest of its life. Bring the kitten to its new home a couple of weeks before the event. A houseful of people or a lively celebration ...is not a good way to introduce a pet it its new home. Consider using a gift certificate and letting the honored person pick the kitten.

Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills cat of the week...SWEETTART. Meet the queen of our community room. Every group of cats has an alpha cat. In our community room Sweettart is the boss. She thinks, "Someone has to be the leader of the pack. I choose me. I let all the new guys know that I'm the boss around here. I love people. I check out everyone who ent...ers. I'm interviewing for a home where I can be the queen. So, you probably shouldn't have other cats if you want me. But, who needs another cat, when you have me?"
