I certainly recognise the 'closed shop' nature of institutional programming. We often seem to have little choice but to accept the culture that is thrown at us without question or argument, as in a child/parent relationship. Sure, we are invited to discuss the themes put on the table, but always as part of someone elses agenda.
I haven't come ... Read Moreacross much evidence so far that NC has made efforts to establish meaningful communications with existing local artists or creative groups in Nottingham either, which I would have thought to be a fundamental step in guaging the pulse of the arts in any city. If they have it's not easily visible to anyone seeking out such information.

It is natural also that some in the City may not be keen on the project...as I am not sure if you are keen on the project I will look at the alternative discussion group as you suggest.
