Novelty Hill-Januik Winery Wrapping up harvest this week. This has been the quickest harvest in Mike's 26 years in the Columbia Valley. Yields were down this year. Quality of the fruit is terrific!

We had a beautiful wedding last Fall with 22 guests who enjoyed wine tasting and a fabulous 4 course dinner. Diane, Emily, Dan and everyone else made the evening magical. Highest recommendation.

@JVS: Most cruise lines rulesheet say 'no alcohol may be brought on board, may be taken away, etc.'; However, buried in the 'fine print', you can sometimes read an exception that a couple celebrating a honeymoon or anniversary can bring on a bottle of wine or champagne to celebrate with in-cabin.

Holland allowed us to bring wine onboard as stated in their rules. They do not allow "alcohol" (hard liquor) altho some people we met did bring some on board. Corkage fees were $18.00 each. Well worth it as their markups are pretty steep. We brought 12 premium bottles that were checked as wellpacked luggage on Lufthansa. We used frequent flyers to book 1st class so we didn't have restrictions on weight. The only way to go! By the way, our Lufthansa experience was "over the top"!!

Novelty Hill-Januik Winery Today we will be crushing Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Conner Lee Merlot, Ciel du Cheval Petit Verdot, and Ciel du Cheval Syrah. We will also be pressing our second vintage of the Bacchus Vineyard Riesling and Stillwater Creek Vineyard Merlot. Our crush pad and tank room observation decks will be open all day to the general public. Please feel free to come in and ask our cellar workers anything imaginable.

I was lucky enough to compare the structure of the Ciel merlot to the sweetness of Klipsum merlot today. Real should give people a heads when an opportunity like this comes up. Could be a reason for a special trip to the winery.

Novelty Hill-Januik Winery The first grapes of the 2009 harvest season have arrived! Novelty Hill Stillwater Creek Vineyard sauvignon blanc came in today and wine makers Mike Januik and Scott Moeller are excited and looking forward to this harvest. We will be processing the sauv blanc tomorrow beginning around 11:00 AM. Come by and sample some of the grapes!
