James Hansen You guys are amazing. In preparation for our upcoming trip for Arizona's Foster Youth to OX ranch, I looked up some of your history. Your environmental efforts are astounding and I plan to share this information with our youth. I am so looking forward to this Saturday, getting outside of the city, fresh air, fun stuff,... good food and happy kids. What you are doing for us is remarkable and your generosity a blessing. You are creating a wonderful memory for our youth. You're good guys...and gals. James Hansen. Arizonans For Children.

We never give antibiotics to our grass fed herd. We currently have no hormone supplement free animals that will reach maturity prior to the summer of 2010 and we have substantially increased the size of our herd of supplement free animals in order to avoid any shortages in the future. We have been reluctant to increase the size of our supplement ... See Morefree herd because we have found that a hormone supplement given to our calves minimizes the shock to their system when they are weaned from their mothers and deprived of the supply of natural hormones received from their mother’s milk. It has been our observation that this supplement also enables us to produce a healthier animal
Since some of our customers prefer beef from animals that have not received this supplement, we are placing the next 100 calves into the no supplement herds, and we plan to adjust this number from year to year in order to meet demand.
The per pound cost of packaged meat from an animal that has received no hormone supplement will be slightly higher because the yield percentage will be slightly lower.

Michael does it cost more to buy the grass fed beef?

That depends, Michael. If you buy a whole animal, you are paying on average about $6.50 per pound of meat. That is for ground beef as well as tenderloin, top sirloin, etc... Grocery stores that carry grass fed rib eye, tenderloin or porterhouse steaks will charge over $15.00 per pound and up to $7.00 for ground beef. So it is a good deal to buy in bulk.

Brandi I see that you guys have a "Ranch Day" in the spring, for your customers. I would LOVE to take my family (I have 3 young boys) and show them where their meat comes from, and how ALL meat should be raised. Although we do not buy direct, we do buy your meat at The Meat Shop in downtown Phoenix. I was wondering if your Ra......nch Day is for your direct customers only? If not, what info can you give me on when, where, the cost, etc. We would love to come! My email is brandimoore5@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Hi Elizabeth
We sent you an email with pricing. We estimate it to be between $5.75 and $7.25 per pound of cut meat and typically you end up with about 200 pounds of meat for a 1/2 steer order. You will be at the lower end of the price range if you order a whole steer - you get 10% discount for a whole steer.
Hope to see your order come through soon!
