Quantom Dots are getting a lot of attention lately, especially as a new SSL lighting technology. One of the companies that is working on this new tech is QD Vision. Their co-founder and CTO, Seth Coe-Sullivan has agreed to explain the technology, introduce the company, and answer a few questions.

Lumicure is a UK startup with on OLED and ILED based photo-therapy, to treat several skin diseases such as skin cancer or acne. We first heard of Lumicure back in 2006. Lumicure's CEO, Ian Muirhead, has been kind enough to answer a few questions we had.

Kodak has kindly sent us a new video showing their new OLED lighting panels (preceded by some Kodak 'ads'). Kodak are still working on the technical issues of their OLEDs, but they are also seeking potential collaboration with other companies to bring these to market.

The kind folds from Philips have sent me a couple of OLED light panel samples to review. Philips have started to offer these panels online, but you can't actually get them yet. The kits are not ready, and the one I got was without a proper box and manuals. ...

During the Light Fair in Jacob K Javits Convention Center, New York, WAC lighting is showing some beautiful OLED fixture prototypes - one mini-chandelier, and one wall sconce. They sent us a lot of info, photos and videos of these lamps...

One of the great things about OLEDs is that they are power efficient. Interestingly, for OLED displays, the application makes a great impact on the power consumption. The more bright-pixels, the more power is consumed.
