The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park
During medieval times, on the day after Christmas lords of the manor presented the leftovers from their own celebrations to their servants and to local peasants. Their largesse, intended to welcome outsiders as family, was presented in boxes, hence the name of the day. The Hemingway family celebrated the Boxing Day tra...dition in their Oak Park home, and we invite you to continue celebrating it!

Our traditional Boxing Day festivities include holiday music and English tea and refreshments, as well as festive tours of the Birthplace Home and Museum.

Admission is $10 for the general public. Hemingway Foundation members and volunteers are admitted free!
