Ochre

Ochre Counting down the days until release! You'll be able to get your hands on it before I do, actually, as I'll still be away from Ochre Towers until August. Might have to buy myself a copy while I'm here in FL... or would that be considered a huge faux pas?

Currently at number 4 in Tower Records' electronica charts. Granted, it's a niche within a niche, but still, I'm pleased. http://is.gd/1mHu2

Ochre Try before you buy? Should full-album streaming be the norm with forthcoming releases? I suspect more and more people are reticent to spend money on releases without hearing them first. What do you think?

Full album streaming? Nah, I like hearing some new tracks 'after' I've bought it. pleasant surprises or slightly different remixes not available in the full stream may add value.

I'd be hard pushed not to buy a new release though!

You're welcome, Frederik. It seems like a fun way to discover new music.

Benz Auttaratt Photongnoppakun Hi...From Thailand...Love your sound...:)

Ochre

Ochre Anyone tried thesixtyone.com yet? I've posted a track up on it to see how well this music discovery strategy works (http://is.gd/J5iU). If there's one thing we do need, it's a reliable means of discovering good unsigned talent. Though I guess there's no accounting for taste...

24 hearts. I suppose I either need vocals or a more involved community presence there, as it seems you need a few hundred hearts to get featured anywhere. Still, seems like a cool site for the more commercial-oriented indie artists.

Craig -- any room in the bowels of obscurity for one more?
Brian Batchelor

Brian Batchelor hello, i'm pretty new to your music and quite blown away by your lemodie album a true gem but seems like one of the only releases of yours not available on flac except on a dodgy website www.allflac.com.Hope one day it will be available
on a better than mp3 release.

Thanks for the comment, Brian. Yep, I've chased up getting FLAC versions of Lemodie onto Bleep, but I'm unfortunately at the mercy of the powers that be. I might see if I can set it for download though Bandcamp, and route the proceeds to Benbecula, rather than wait for Bleep. Let's see if that's an option.
Simon Dee

Simon Dee Hi Chris - hope you're well in the run up to release time! I was just reading your comments (and on your site) about not persuing the live thing, which I can fully appreciate. There must be however, music that inspires and interests you and so wondered if you ever fancy DJing your fave tunes out and about...? Well, everyone else does it...maybe a mix?

Ochre
Ochre
Hi Simon -- I've never really been interested in DJing, to be honest. Much prefer just staying in and writing my own tunes. I'm rubbish at keeping up with the latest tunes too; tend not to listen to much music (other than what I hear when mastering).

Thanks very much, Simon!
Ochre

Ochre Hi Leigh -- I doubt it; I'm not terribly enamoured by the laptop + controller setup any more, and anything more involved or band-oriented will take time and money, both of which are sadly lacking at present. This year has been a little turbulent for me, which coupled with PhD work means any extra-musical endeavours suffer. Hopefully I can begin to sort a live plan out at the end of the year.

Leigh

Leigh HI there - any plans to do any gigs to promote your new album?

Ochre

Ochre Hi George -- It got sick and had to be put down. The player started skipping my tunes, so I decided to pulled the plug.

Not for the time being, I don't think. As for networking, what's wrong with email? At least we can keep a check on our own communications that way, and avoid it being drowned out by spam or ads (and can also search, label, catalogue messages). I'm just getting a bit tired of spreading my music thinly across different sites -- more interested in... Read More building my own site a bit. Plus I don't like these huge billion-dollar corporations building an empire off our collective, penniless backs, either. I can feel a rant coming on, so I'll stop! ;)

I mean, I don't want it to come off as some sort of hackneyed, anti-corporate stance (offer me a BMW ad, and I'll be all over it), but really, there are better ways of listening to my music, better ways to connect with what I'm doing, and better ways to get in touch with me. All of which don't require the pervasive mediation of MySpace and its adverts. Hmm, it is an anti-corporate rant!

Yeah, might be an idea to offer an explanation on my site, you're right -- thanks. :)
George Klisouris

George Klisouris Hey Chris, what happened to your myspace page???

David Enrique Umanzor

David Enrique Umanzor Every time I listen to your music, it's as if each song were made to fit each scene in my life. It feels as if i can here your music in the background when I'm happy, joyful, enlightened, sad, angry, upset, disappointed, lonely, and indifferent. Your music really inspires and aligns me, I hope you never stop making your talented, paramount, and also gracious music.

David

David Just noticed someone else mention last.fm in this list. As it happens, that's where I first heard your music too: Yugen was the first track I heard. Since then I havent' looked back! Your music is an inspiration. I'm sure I'm not the only person who 'tries' to make their own music but is blown away by what you do. You've got a lot of support, but you certainly deserve more!

Really looking forward to getting the next album released; just waiting for Patrick to work his magic and cook up some more brilliant artwork. :) It's going to be on digipak this time too, so no chance of a cracked jewel cases arriving in the mail. ;)

oh, that's too funny. The jewel pack on my copy of Midsummer was reduced to a fine mist after its adventure through the post but somehow the disc was just fine. THAT'S when I became a fan! : ) Looking very forward to y'alls next slab.
