Nicholas Naquan Heyward, Jr. was 13 years old when a housing police officer shot and killed him for playing cops and robbers in a stairwell in Gowanus Houses. The policeman who killed him was exonerated by the District Attorney and never faced any charges. This vigil will mark the date young Nicholas lost his life 15 y...ears ago.

The Stolen Lives Induction Ceremony is a solemn yet empowering event, where families and other loved ones of recent victims of police violence are joined and supported by other families of Stolen Lives and many oth...ers from all sections of the community. We come together to uphold the memories of those killed, and to affirm our resolve to continue and to escalate the struggle for justice and against the epidemic of police violence and murder.
