school programs.

What are your thoughts on after school programs?

Are you or your kids involved in any? Why or why not?

I think the afterschool programs are a great tool to keep the children safe and given one on one time. However, the need for longer hours needs to be addressed. I know of schools north of Sallisaw that have a before school program and an afterschool program till 5or 6 pm. Yes, teacher is paid. Yes, parents do leave them there till time to go. Some are working and some ????

after school programs are needed, with parents not at home to help children with homework, to keep them safe, and to nuture them - some families must work long hours to keep the family going however the children suffer. We as teachers are asked to fulfill more roles as time goes on. Are we up for the job? Of course, the children are our future!

I believe it is needed in every district. It helps everyone. Yes, the teachers should get paid and even the community could get envolved, and offer small fee based classes.
