Oklahoma Rock and Roll with Steve Ripley

Oklahoma Rock and Roll with Steve Ripley Since the show ended, I've been continuing to work on the shows - tweaking a bit before putting them away to await whatever might be next. In the middle of show #4 - the 1st of the POP & POP Culture shows. Lots of JJ Cale. 20/20 Power Pop. Nuclear war and Gene Autry. Porter hung with me. A nice day today with the blizzard whirling away outside the studio.

Great time to be in the studio...I did a CD during a blizzard in Vermont, one of the best!

It was a very busy year, both professionally and personally. Fear not, I somehow still managed to craft the hippest holiday mix in existence.

Miss the show but you gave us so much. I spent the day looking for old 45 records of Oklahoma music. Thanks!

Oklahoma Rock and Roll with Steve Ripley ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS!! Jimmy Cliff (yea!)... but then: Hollies, Genesis, ABBA. oh poop... poop, I say.

well I am an avid early genesis fan, along with a lot of the classical/prog rock of the era, and they deserve their time, it just isn't yet... the rock and roll hall of fame is a sham and is about as much about rock n roll as the Hard Rock cafe/bars. Somewhat disgraceful if you ask me.

Oklahoma Rock and Roll with Steve Ripley An extra fine Oklahoma Rock & Roll Saturday evening attending the 14th annual Red Dirt Christmas Party at the Cain's. McClure, Red Dirt Rangers, Ragweed. Rangers in extra-extra mode with delightfully over the top Randy Crouch and a bonus appearance by Jimmy Junior Markham. Definite highlight was Jimmy Karstein's introduction of Mr. Markham.

Sounds great. One year at the Woody Fest in Okemah, we camped right in between the Rangers and Still on the Hill for the entire week. Not sure what was better, the stage, concerts or the music around the campfire (even though it was about 300 degrees outside) which was heavenly. Notice I said camped. I didn't say slept! It was wonderful music day and night.

Big wheels turning...I really enjoyed your radio personality and format which I felt was unique and the messsage was all affirming. I bet there are pockets out there...say, Steve, do any of the John Peel broadcasts out of OKC exist? He became the voice of BBC rock and roll but his first real DJ job was in OK. Cool, huh?

I listen to the show all the time and have wanted to carry it but never was able to touch base. Guess we are too small, not like KWGS or KGOU, but we have a hell of an internet audience in addition to our local on-air signal.
