On Bouge
On Bouge, is a french social dance club. Think of it like a friendly ceilidh with a french twist. We dance several types of dances from different regions of france.
The Bourée comes from central france and is danced facing a partner in lines or set formations. The Schottische, Mazurka, Polka, Waltz are popular couple d...ances danced all over france. The Breton dances such as Gavotte, Hanter Dro are danced in long snaking lines which intermingle and diverge.
Don't worry if that sounds complicated, they're all really easy to learn and we'll teach you the steps. No partner necessary.
We're lucky to have some wonderful live music to accompany the dancing, from Mistral and other regular club musicians.

It's the Brent Respect festival this sunday, with a fantastic programme of music, arts and dancing for all ages (link to the full programme below).
On Bouge will be doing a workshop at 2pm in the "Momentum Dance Tent". We'll do a demonstration of some dances followed by getting the public involved (similar to what we di...d at the Dance Around the World festival).
It would be fantastic if we could have a good crowd of On Bouge members there to show the dances and help explain it to others. The emphasis will be on participation and having fun, so don't worry if you're still just learning the steps yourself.
If you want to join in you need to be at the "Momentum Dance Tent" by 1pm at the latest so we can do a run-through of what we're going to do
together (meet outside the tent as there's another workshop starting at 1pm).
