On Your Own Adventures
Packing gear and loading the truck for the next episode. Elk hunting in Nevada. BLM ground, tent camping, and hunt On Your Own.
I promised a good friend that if he applied in Nevada and drew, I would assist him on the hunt. He doesn't get around as good as he used to, so we will have our work cut out, to find an elk ...that will cooperate.
With any luck, it will be a good one, like the time a few years ago when I had a Nevada elk tag, shown in the picture below.Read More

On Your Own Adventures
Tomorrow is harvest day. In Montana, we can get more whitetail doe tags than you want to fill. Going to a friend's place and will try my best to bring the numbers down to a nuisance level, and fill the freezer with some of the alfalfa fed venison. Doesn't get much tastier than those.
Hope a big buck doesn't appear, a...s I do have a buck tag, but the camera won't be rolling. Hmmmm that would be a dilema.Read More

On Your Own Adventures
Just back from the Montana elk hunt. Had a great hunt with some great footage and a great friend. Think folks will like it when this one is edited.
Here is a pic. If you want to read the play by play, go to the Hunt Talk thread listed a few posts down.

Peter Zagorski I am considering New Mexico as my retirement state. And it looks like a great place to do many " On My Own Adventures" . I could use a partner. I have a few years to stay in shape and do the planning. Any local contacts out there.

Kent Wiggs That last light elk on the show today was a terrific show. Great shot, huffing and puffing running and then gunning. Well done.

Sandy Fischer Apfel Wanted to invite you all to a link to help tracking. It's CSI technology for hunters http://trackem.co.nr/ There is also a fanpage on facebook, direct link through website.

Chris Geminski Has anyone ever hunted antelope in Wyoming's Red Desert? I am doing an elk hunt in CO in 2011 and wanted to go out a few days early and hunt in WY for antelope where I will have 3 preference points by then. Any advice or info would be appreciated...

On Your Own Adventures Two days of scouting and not an elk spotted. Raining like crazy and making it impossible to get around on these roads. Season opens tomorrow. Hope to have a story to post by this time tomorrow.

On Your Own Adventures
Packing my gear, cleaning the rifles, and getting the trailer filled with equipment for the Montana elk hunt. Going to scout three days early and hopefully find a good bull on Sunday morning. I promise to make him a TV star, if he cooperates fully.
We will have the full day by day reports posted over on our website at the link shown below.
