One Book One Northwestern is designed to provide an academic experience that brings undergraduates together and encourages intellectual discussions by supplying a common topic to students who may not otherwise share a common body of knowledge.

One Book One Northwestern Please join us and hear from our expert panelists on how scientific advances relate to public policy and climate change legislation. The interplay between science, public opinion, and economics will be analyzed in regards to the implementation of climate change legislation. The panelists include: David Archer, Professo...r of Geophysics from the University of Chicago and Blogger for RealClimate, Liz Moyer, Professor of Geophysics from the University of Chicago and Member of CIM-EARTH, David Weisbach, Professor of Law from the University of Chicago, expert in economics of carbon taxation, Marisa Martin, environmental lawyer and Northwestern alum Mark Witte, Professor of Economics at Northwestern University, expert in natural resource economics. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

One Book One Northwestern "Energy War" explores how the economic importance of fossil fuels affects international politics and becomes a powerful tool of foreign policy. A film by Shuchen Tan, IJsbrand van Veelen & Rudi Boon. Run time is approximately 78 minutes. Following the film, Lynne Kiesling, Senior Lecturer at the NU Dept. of Economics a...nd Social Enterprise at Kellogg (SEEK), and Mark Witte, Distinguished Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Economics at the NU Dept. of Economics will facilitate an informal discussion.
