Open IT Online

With Open IT Online 2.5, Firefox users have now the possibility to save online many types of files: this is thanks to the inclusion of the well known Box.net service. To save a file in Box.net you need a free Box.net account. Here is how the 'Open With' dialog looks like:

In Open IT Online 2.5 we also had to remove ThinkFree Viewer service, due to the fact that ThinkFree discontinued their java applet document viewer.

At the same time, we have added a brand new service called View Docs Online that allows to view all the documents supported by Open IT Online in a quick way. We suggest you give it a try!

We also added the possibility to remove the Open IT Online icon from the status bar.

With Open IT Online 2.0 it is possible to view and edit online even the documents that are stored on your computer! You will not be limited to online documents anymore: now you can view and edit all your documents with Open IT Online.

When you try to view online a document stored on your computer, the document is uploaded to Open IT Online server and then it is opened with the selected online service. We know that Firefox users do really care about privacy issues and hence we want to make clear that the documents uploaded by Open IT Online are deleted within one day from their upload and they are never touched or read by any human being. So, be sure: your privacy is not going to be violated!

Open local documents with Open IT Online is extremely simple, you can:

1. drag the document to the Firefox window, or
2. select "File->Open File" menu and choose the document you want to open, or
3. click on the Open IT Online icon in the status bar and select the "Open a Document" menu item.

In this new version we have added support for Russian and Vietnamese languages too: thanks to Babelzilla.org for their precious help.
