Orange County United Way
Our objective is to bring together Orange County United Way donors, staff and volunteers to celebrate the inspired giving of our community on National Philanthropy Day – November 18, 2009. We will collect and donate vitally needed school supplies for Oak View Elementary School in support of the El Viento program.
El Vie...nto changes the lives of underprivileged youth residing in the economically depressed, culturally isolated Oak View community in Huntington Beach, CA. By adhering to El Viento’s high program standards, participating in activities, graduating high school and gaining acceptance into college, students earn an annual college scholarship of $2000.00 for two years. Throughout the programs 10 year duration, the graduation rate is 100 percent, far exceeding the Oak View community average of 63 percent.
How are we celebrating? On November 18, 2009 the children of Oak View Elementary School will stand together in groups to spell out ‘LIVE UNITED’ and all donations will surround the children. Ariel photography and PR opportunities are in the planning stages.
We invite you to participate:
