
Maine Bound Adventure Center We will be taking off for the weekend and camping out on an island in the gorgeous Penobscot Bay. We will focus on safety, camping skills, nautical rules and navigation while enjoying Maine’s rocky and bold coastline. You should be in good physical condition and excited about paddling.

Maine Bound Adventure Center Katahdin is a native word that means “Great Mountain” and this is your chance to find out why it holds such a name. Join us as we make our annual trek to the top of Maine’s highest peak. Overlooking the expansive Maine wilderness, we will climb the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. This hike is physically ...demanding and will be a full day of activity. The adventure is well worth the effort! No experience is required, though a moderate level of fitness is needed.

Maine Bound Adventure Center Sport climbs provide a safer alternative to traditional lead climbing and are a great way to start climbing on the “sharp end.” This course will take place on one weeknight in the climbing gym to introduce new concepts, and then we will spend a full weekend at New Hampshire’s spectacular Rumney Climbing area.

With more than five miles of steep, overhung cliff faces, and more than 1000 routes, the Gunks are a traditional climbers paradise. Whether it be vintage routes from the 50’s or modern day testpieces, the Gunks have routes ...for every climber to enjoy and challenge themselves on.

Maine Bound Adventure Center Are you ready to view the incredible fall foliage from up high? We will travel to the White Mountains of New Hampshire for four days of multi-pitch and top rope rock climbing. We will “car camp” by night and climb the heights by day. Transportation, climbing gear, group camping gear, instruction, and food is provided.

Maine Bound Adventure Center Join Maine Bound for a hiking traverse of the tallest mountain range in the Northeast: the President Mountain of New Hampshire. We will peak 8 to 10 mountains ranging from Mt. Monroe to Mt. Adams to Mt. Washington. With amazing views and a variety of terrain this could be a challenging but rewarding October weekend.

Join Maine Bound August 26th through the 28th on a trip to Maine's very own “Grand Canyon”, Gulf Hagas, and start the semester off right! Hike through beautiful, scenic trails and stop for a dip in one of the many r...efreshing pools and take in the marvelous sights. This Grand Canyon of Maine displays vertical slate walls 300 to 400 feet deep, creating countless natural waterfalls and cascades. As part of the Appalachian trail, Gulf Hagas is situated in the heart of some of Maine's tallest mountains, making for incredible views and for an unforgettable hiking and camping experience. Finish off the day relaxing around the campfire and enjoying a cozy, Maine summer night. But, that's not all! Before heading back, spend an exciting day on the water canoeing and swimming in one of the many lakes and ponds surrounding Gulf Hagas. Before you start that hectic fall semester, finish off the summer with an experience worth telling all your friends about!

Maine Bound Adventure Center Enter the heart of the Maine Wilderness the same way it has been done for hundreds of years - by canoe. This trips starts on the West Branch of the mighty Penobscot River and heads down into the Debskoneag Lakes Wilderness area. Nestled in the shadow of Katahdin, just south of Baxter State Park, the Deb lakes are some ...of the most pristine, remote ponds in New England. Next you will travel to Clifton, Maine to the local rock climbing crag. The next two days will be spent exploring the sport of rock climbing focusing on belaying, climbing movements, and techniques. This is a great beginning to your adventure at UMaine, while getting to know some amazing people! Throughout the trip, we will be in search of picturesque moments while learning important camping skills and enjoying the company. Technical equipment and group gear will be provided. No experience necessary!
