I really like that he says: "“Can you show me why I failed with this patient?” is a much more interesting question than “Can you confirm my prejudice about why I am succeeding with these patients?”

Very true!

Brandon Saggio: Hello! A have a couple of questions for you… please humor me for just a second. From the Orthopedic massage instructor you are point of view, and from the context of you posting, what is a non-neurological phenomenon? What is a neurological phenomenon? What is the difference? Would you please mention a couple of each so I can be clear of what you are referring to?

Hello Brandon!

My understanding is that proprioception is the sense that indicates whether the body is moving with required effort, as well as where the various parts of the body are located in relation to each other. It does mean"one's own" and perception. This neurological function is largely control by the cerebellum (no phenomenon here!). You know, this is the sense or one of the millions of functions of our nervous system. This one, (porprioception) the relative position of neighboring parts of the body is a distinct sensory modality that provides feedback solely on the status of the body internally. (Again, known facts... not speculations or theory here, or “ a phenomenon”.)

However, I think we got off a bit off track. Therefore, I do not know if you answer my original questions.... See More

What is a “non-neurological phenomenon”?

What then, is “a neurological phenomenon”?

What is the name of the “theory” you referenced in your postings, who, when, where, etc. is doing this research?

Where can I find and see the statistics reflecting what you stated: “ a common misunderstanding that many massage therapist have regarding holding patterns of tight muscles and postural imbalances.”

Thank you for your time.

I am always working out and staying fit. I was hoping to find hundred, if not thousands of trends and discussions about the findings and the ongoing studies the orthopedic researchers are performing here (discussion area), as it is advertised. I found none!!!! After all, this is a “research institute”… isn’t it? And this is a discussion area…nothing is posted!!! It is strange! Isn’t?

Thanks for the input. Yes, I do think this is an example of the possibilities for doing great education in the online environment. I also hope it can serve as a model to help break down much of the bias against distance education.
