Mathieu I thought this might add some interesting info to the question about homework that was asked a few days ago.

No more pencils, no more books, no more teachers' dirty looks. At least not because kids didn't do their homework...because there isn't any at one Ontario school.

No there shouldn't be an investigation. These people would have absolutely no issue with using methods on any of us to extract info. One of the problems with western society is that when we decide to get involved in conflicts, we have to follow the rules while the other side doesn't. it was a big reason why the Americ...ans got clobbered in vietnam-they tried to fight as irregular war using conventional warfare.
As for Mr. Colvin, I applaud him for speaking up, but common sense should've told him that it would do no good.

580 CFRA CFRA Poll Question of the Day: Should there be an independent investigation of claims by Canadian Diplomat Richard Colvin that he told officials at Foreign Affairs, and at least one General at National Defence, about detainee torture in Afghanistan but was told to stop talking and writing about it?

Wait Mathieu, who do we need to set an example for our way of life? The Afghan people who believe in Islam? They don't even want us there and they sure arn't going to listen to a group of 'Westerners' in reforming their Country. That is not why we are there in the first place. We are there to end a Taliban regime that attacked the western world, thus liberating the remainder of the Country, is nothing more than a bonus. It should be up to The Afghan Gov. to rebuild their Country. Not us.

I agree about the sentiment of "let them do it themselves"...but honestly, you got to think about how Capitalists think, right, survival of the fittest? Fact of the matter is, around this Global Community called the "world/globe" there are so many developing countries, I mean like they don't even have clean drinking water...when are we going to see... Read More some leadership by a capitalist, taking their excessive millions and going to a developing country and do something positive with all those resources??!! Afganistan or not...

580 CFRA CFRA Poll Question of the Day: Two parents in Calgary have worked out a no-homework guarantee with their children's school because of the busy schedule of extracurricular activities. Do you think teachers give students too much, often useless homework, OR homework teaches students many skills including how to work and study independently?

I think it's just a couple Soccer Moms that are out to get attention! 3-4 hours of homework is definitely an exaggeration. They're probably upset because their kid's homework is interfering with their own personal agenda rather than those of their kids. Kids need to be encouraged to study rather than play sports or the piano! Why do you think the kids in 3rd world countries are smarter than Canadians and Americans? They spend more time in class and less playing ball!

Scotty Caledonia -- Dalton Liberal Gov't is a TOTAL disgrace as well as the OPP. The OPP should have enforced the law and not to listen to the political guidelines of this corrupt Liberal government. The OPP should start laying charges againist the natives that were involve in this terrorist incident. The law applies to all not for a few.

I think they should be both emberassed by this. what they cause is a lack of confidence in the OPP.
Sadly, this is common across Canada. I know of a instance on the fraser river in BC where a boat came out and dropped a net illegally in front of 100+ people who took picture video etc. DFO said there was insufficient evidence and witnesses. pretty sad commentary.

I can only assume Ebon doesn't read much.Or he gets his news from Pravda.

And I think we should get the name 'Park' out of Landsdowne. It is not a Park.It is a pile of concrete.

I have posted the unholy 9 on my wall at home. And when my city Councillor comes around campaigning come election time.I will remind him of them.

Lee Gibbons The Marx and Engles fan club Glebe chapter will be out in force today to try to block Lannsdowne Live project from proceding. Finnally the city has people from the bussiness community that will step up and turn a decaying asset into a destination for all residents to utilize. Support this plan

Mathieu remember a little while ago when there was a question about tightening refugee applications and some folks here were saying that most refugee cases are bogus? Well...

"I am happy and sad to be back," said a tearful Nuemi, the dead woman's
mother. "I'm sad because my daughter had to be killed in order for
Canada to believe in our story. The price is just too high."

Nuemi, left, and daughter Bebe sought refuge in Canada from a drug lord, but were sent back to Mexico when their refugee claims were rejected. (Oct. 18, 2009)
