Not prioritized, of course. Some good stuff, but much of it is unimaginative, self-serving and off base. The Regional Agenda even takes a shot at health care reform.

Outrages & Insights We really needed Donald Trump on the job this past week. Instead of Judge Tom Amodeo taking Brian Davis' plea last week, we could have had The Donald sitting there, pounding the gavel and saying "YOU'RE FIRED!" DA Frank Sedita essentially did it through legal means, although that didn't stop Davis from acting as though... the job was still his when he resigned last night.

Outrages & Insights His colleagues on the Common Council are moving on, even if Brian Davis isn't, and the line of potential successors is starting to form. Ellicott is an especially important district, given the real estate it covers, and the Council needs to make a smart choice in replacing Davis.

Outrages & Insights Lots of people are gushing over Rocco Termini's plans to redevelop AM&A's building and Lafayette Hotel, and they certainly need attention. But plans include hotel space, and providing public subsidies to add more rooms to a downtown market that is already struggling doesn't make sense.

Outrages & Insights I called the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development the other day, requesting an interview with an attorney type to discuss the agency's legal options in the face of City Hall's failure to clean up the block grant program. On Friday, a flak called back to say they won't discuss, that HUD is doing what it is ...supposed to be doing. In reality, what HUD is doing is a lot of talk and little substantive action.
