Owen and Payne

Owen and Payne Looks like most people are guessing Ron Paul to be the thriftiest Congressional member. In that case, who’s been the thriftiest President of the last century?

Richard Nixon, at least before Congress passed the Budget and Impoundment Control Act.

Owen and Payne Who’s the thriftiest Congressional member and why? We’ve got our bets, but we’re choosing to keep our mouths shut and hear what you have to say.

Earmarks can be used responsibly by those who understand responsibility, which Dr. Paul certainly does. Thrifty doesn't necessarily mean wise.

Owen and Payne Oh good, Congress is back at work today. Maybe they can figure out a way to pay down this debt....

I gather there is at least noise about enacting regulation that would stop much of what was mentioned in the interview you mentioned. We'll have to watch to see if it really happens. Here is an overview article of what is planned by the Obama administration: http://www.economist.com/finance/displayStory.cfm?story_id=13394576

I have some good ideas, 1st, we marry Ron Paul's "Audit the Fed" bill(HR1207) with the FairTax Bill(HR 25 and S296). We restore the power of money creation to Congress, and demand they return to a sound monetary policy, and the control of interest rates to the market. We use the abundance of revenue from the new FT to fund the government and pay ... Read Moreoff the debt. 2nd, massive budget cuts and closing of useless, dead fish federal departments and give those responsibilities back to the states who will decide how free the markets will be. 3rd, we abandon the Empire, the military-industrial complex has perpetuated the empire for far too long, and profited largely by the blood of other nations. It's a simple 3 step plan really, think you got a better one? I'd love to hear it=)

Solution: Peg our currency to the Zimbabwian dollar. Kroner. Sheckel. Stone. Toilet tissue. Whatever they use.

Owen and Payne Payne, I sure wish we would have thought of Ashton’s Twitter contest idea. Good thing we’re not as obnoxious as he is

Owen and Payne One of our fans suggested that every major city have a debt clock. What do you think about that idea?
