Owls
Here new Friday comes and that means not only incoming weekend, but also a new tip about Owls! Today we will continue learning different types of Owls. On the picture below you can see the Barn Owl (Tyto alba). It's most widely distributed species of owl, it lives on open country such as farmland or grassland with some... interspersed woodland, usually below 2,000m but sometimes even as high as 3,000m in the tropics. You can distinguish it from other special by heart-shaped face and dark eyes. It hunts mostly small vertebrates, especially rodents.

Recently one of our fellows Heather Hamlin O'Bryan has suggested me to post something like "daily owl fact" or tip. I've thought about that idea and found it attractive, therefore every week I will gladden you with some interesting and entertaining information about owls. :)
Today I want to start with learning and disti...nguishing different types of owls. On the picture below is the great horned owl - the large-headed, neckless silhouette and large ear tufts or “horns” of it are hard to miss. :)
